Jim McElvaney

After graduating from Leeds Met University in 2007 with a BA in Fine Art Jim moved to Brighton where he began to paint and develop his unique style. Jim creates expressive often unplanned, spontaneous work, suggesting influences from a number of genres including expressionism, abstraction and illustration. The subjects in his work range from the surreal and haunting to the witty and charismatic.

Jim combines a number of methods and materials to produce engaging and provocative depictions of human expression, the expressive gestures in his painting and constructive lines in his drawing often present more emotional insight than the subject itself.
